What will I learn?

This rich and detailed course covers the essentials needed to understand inclusive LLMs through four modules

(1) what is generative AI,
(2) visualizing bias through image generators,
(3) ChatGPT as a case, and
(4) content moderation.

And it does so, by interweaving social inclusion, responsible AI, and social impact throughout.

Why is this training important?

Generative AI is all the rage--it's the AI engine that powers large language models that can be adapted for a wide variety of tasks. Future proof your career with essentials that provide you with the foundational concepts and tools of genAI. The goal is to train YOU how to think critically and carefully about genAI, not merely provide tips and tricks.

Who is it for?

This introductory training is designed for non-coders, people who are interested in genAI but not sure where to start. If you work in the social impact sector, are a backstopper, Chief of Party, project manager, social inclusion specialist, new business lead, and/or a technical specialist in something other than AI, this training is designed for you.

But make no mistake, this course is certainly technical. It is only when we truly understand the technical side of genAI, that we can see how and where to successfully integrate social inclusion.

What does the training cover?

  • What's generative AI?
  • How can genAI be used?
  • What is a neural network and how is it trained?
  • How can we use image generators to understand LLMs?
  • How is ChatGPT influenced by its training data?
  • What is happening inside ChatGPT after a user prompt?
  • What are tokens and word embeddings? Why are they important?
  • What's the big innovation that made ChatGPT possible?
  • How does ChatGPT provide answers that seem so good?
  • How does ChatGPT perform when it comes to gender-related testing?
  • What is content moderation and how does it work?
  • Why is content moderation an important part of LLMs?
  • And more!

For more details, see the curriculum below. Consider this training the start, not the end, of your AI journey.

When is the training?

Learn at your own pace! Fully on-demand, remote training. This training is approximately 3 hours in total.

Am I able to earn a certificate?

Yes. By completing all videos and scoring 80% or more on each module quiz (re-takes allowed), you will receive a certificate of completion.

What will I be able to do when I finish?

After completing this training, you will:

  • Understand genAI from a concepts, not math, perspective that focuses on inclusion.
  • Understand the neural network training process, the important role of data, and how the complexity of the world is represented in machine-readable forms.
  • Begin to participate in organization discussions about genAI.
  • Have the foundation needed to read, process, and apply news about genAI.
